Search South Hill Family Court Records with LINX
Pierce County uses the LINX case search system for public record access online. LINX is not the Odyssey portal used by many other Washington counties. It is the county's own platform, and it is free to use for basic searches. No account is needed to look up a case by party name or cause number.
LINX covers civil and family law cases going back to 2002. You can view docket entries, party lists, attorney names, hearing dates, and judgment information. The docket also lists documents that were filed, and you can view or print them at the Clerk's counter. Attorneys who need bulk access or e-filing can set up a paid subscription.

Pierce County LINX portal for South Hill residents to access superior court case records. Use linxonline.co.pierce.wa.us to search by party name or cause number for family law, civil, and judgment cases filed in Pierce County.
When searching LINX, enter the full legal name as it appears on court documents. A common name may return many results; adding an approximate filing year helps. Case numbers include a type indicator, and family law cases typically show "3" in that position. Once you find the right case, the docket view shows every event in the case timeline.
If a case does not appear, it may be sealed, may predate LINX coverage, or may have been filed in a different county. For records that are not online, contact the Clerk's office. They can check the internal system and tell you what records exist and how to access them.

The Washington State Digital Archives holds historical superior court records and vital records that predate the online systems. If you need information from a case filed in the 1980s or early 1990s, the digital archives may be a useful first stop before calling the Clerk's office.

Filing a Family Law Case as a South Hill Resident
Washington dissolution cases follow RCW Chapter 26.09, which covers the grounds for dissolution, mandatory forms, mediation, temporary orders, and parenting plan procedures. Cases with children also involve RCW Chapter 26.12, the family court statute that governs jurisdiction, guardian ad litem appointments, and parenting seminar requirements.
Washington is a no-fault state. The only ground is that the marriage is irretrievably broken. No fault, blame, or grounds need to be proved. Either party can file. One party must be a Washington resident or an armed forces member stationed here at the time of filing.
The filing fee at Pierce County Superior Court is roughly $314. Income-based waivers are available. After you file, serve the other party, and the 90-day waiting period begins from the service date.
